Psalm 100:5 (ESV)
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Talk About It
Psalm 100:5 tells us something very important about God. He is good—all the time! His love and faithfulness last forever, not just for a little while or just for special people. That means God loved people in Bible times, he loves us right now, and he will always love future generations too. Even when life is tough or confusing, we can be thankful because God never changes.
This verse comes at the end of a psalm all about praising God with singing, joyful hearts, and thankfulness. God made us, takes care of us like a loving shepherd, and invites us to come close and give him thanks. Remember, our gratitude isn’t based on having a perfect life or all the things we want. Instead, it’s about knowing and trusting that God is always good, loving, and faithful. Every time we notice something good—a kind word, a beautiful day, a meal, or a friend—we can remember it’s from God, who never stops caring for us. Gratitude helps keep our hearts close to him today and for all our tomorrows!
For Parents to Explain
Dear God, thank You for being good and faithful to us. Help us to remember Your love never ends, and to say thank You every day. Amen.
Family Activities
Gratitude Walk
- Go outside together as a family—walk around your neighborhood or a park.
- Challenge everyone to notice three things they are thankful for that they can see, hear, or smell.
- Pause to share what you noticed and thank God for each one out loud.
- Finish by saying Psalm 100:5 together as a family.
Thankful Sheep Craft
- Draw and cut out a simple sheep (or use a coloring page); write “We are his people, the sheep of his pasture” on it.
- On the sheep’s “wool,” write words or draw pictures of things your family is grateful for.
- Put the sheep somewhere everyone can see it this week.
- When you add something new you’re thankful for, thank God together.
Family Prayer
Now let’s take turns thanking God for something good He has given or done for each of us this week.
